You may not have seen my earlier post about the Bains. The only census reference I could locate for Walter Bain and family was the 1850 census. It lists his family in Shelby County TN with three children. These are Mary, William and Elizabeth, ages 6, 5 and 1 respectively. All are born in Tennessee.

Where did you find information showing William as born in Mississippi?

Linda, if there were any children from a prior marriage, where should they be in 1850? Would they not be with the surviving parent?

Also, as mentioned in my other post,
if there were any children from a prior marriage, wouldn't we expect them to have been born in Tennessee or perhaps Kentucky?
