On the rolls of those paroled at Meridian, after Gen. Taylor's surrender, appear several men listed, under "Rank" as "Conscript". Next to that designation, under "Regiment", some are listed at "unattached" and some as "detailed". John Kemp, residence - Oxford, falls into the later category. Does anyone have any knowledge of these men, and whether or not there are further records, perhaps at MDAH?
