I just want to pass this information along to anyone who might be compiling information on the 7th Mississippi Battalion:

The CSR file on www.footnote.com for Pvt. Hector C. Smith, Co. K, 37th Mississippi Infantry Regiment, contains two letters recommending/requesting him for Chaplaincy of the 7th Mississippi Battalion. One of the letters contains the endorsements/signatures of no less than 14 officers of the 7th Mississippi Battalion.

I hope this helps someone add to the history of the 7th Mississppi Battalion of Infantry.
