Re: KIA Family
In Response To: Re: KIA Family ()

I have an 1860 Staff Officers and Field sword which was supposed to belong to Capt NF Davis of the Kentucky Calvary, Confederate Army. I have a letter dating from 1953, from William E Bergin, Major General, the Adjutant General to Mrs. Frank Butterfield of Orlando Florida. The letter identifies Capt NF Davis, and supposedly it was his sword. It does have the initials "NFD" engraved on the sword. How can I establish a direct line to this sword? Is it possible that the one to whom the letter was addressed was a descendent of Capt Davis? I noticed that he was mentioned as KIA, and I also have a copy of his death certificate, foraging records. I am tying to validate this sword. Do you have any useful info that could help me? If so, please email me at dohns5@carolina.com. If you reply I will send digital pictures.

Thank you
Dennis Johns
