His service record only states that he was missing on the battlefield, July
28, 1864. This would indicate that he went missing at the Battle of Ezra
Church during the overall Atlanta Campaign. His service record ends there,
with absolutely no indication of whether he died or not, whether he went to
hospital, where he is buried, etc. I am not familiar with the details of
the battle, except that the Yankees won. If the Yankees retained possession
of the field and Snell was killed during the battle, then he was possibly
simply buried in an unmarked grave. Wish I could tell you more, but that's
