W. B. Leonard, Private, Company G, 18th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry, enlisted December 27, 1864 at Senatahoba by Lt. Blasingame for 3 years,** no further records

The 18th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry (also known as the 18th Battalion Mississippi Partisan Rangers) was organized June 1,1863, with four companies, which appear to have been raised prior to that date and assigned to a battalion to be commanded by Maj. A. H. Chalmers. Subsequently other companies were added, and in March, 1865, the battalion was reorganized and designated the 18th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry

Muster rolls for Company G [Note: Only these two survived to be recorded in these records]

February 1 to April 30, 1864, dated April 30, 1864, stationed near Oxford, Miss.

**March 1, 1865 to ________, not dated, nor station of company stated [this is the only muster roll in which Leonard is noted, his presence is recorded: "not stated," it appears to me that this muster roll was never completed after filling in the names prior to a roll call, for pay. I would assume that he recently turned the age of Conscription, age 17]
