I have not seen a copy of the actual application other than a listing on a Genweb site. His wife said "General Forrest's Company A ".
Thomas McNatt's brother-in-law, Wesley Hamilton is shown in the 11th Alabama Cavalry, Company A. The 11th operated with General Forrest. I think Thomas McNatt's wife got the information from her brother Wesley. There is a "Thomas Mackey" listed on the roster of the 11th Cavalry.

I have a photograph of Thomas McNatt's military headstone. There had to be enough information for someone to erect the headstone.
