P.S. I can't help but to wonder why he joined a Louisiana unit when there were Mississippi units he could have joined. His two brothers fought in the 37th MS, which wasn't raised until 1862, when Joseph enlisted in late 1861. But he had cousins who enlisted in 1861 in the 3rd MS from the Coast.
