Okay, Samuel's father was Sherwood. Sherwood's father was Arthur Jr. His father was Arthur, of course.

Okay, I'm getting confused. I'm assuming when you refer to "Samuel", you're talking about Samuel Jr., son of Reuben. This Samuel was in the 38th Infantry and killed July 11, 1862. I mentioned Eli "Coot" Lee before, another son of Reuben. He was in the 7th Battalion MS Infantry and captured at Vicksburg. They had two other brothers whom I think served. I found a Johnathan Lee in Co. B, 17th Battalion Cavalry and a Thomas Lee in the same unit. Reuben had sons with these names but I can't confirm that these are the same men.
I found a W.J. Lee in Co. A, 33rd MS, the unit you mentioned. According to his papers, he enlisted in Neshoba County and was arrested as a deserter. His last card says he "appears on a list of sick CSA who were put off on the banks of the Miss River from the steamer Minnehaha at Greenville, Miss, Dec. 31, 1862, entirely destitute of rations, bedding, etc."
