There is a War Department communication with the Texas State Board of Pensions dated June 12, 1917 in the name of John Casper Welty, Company H., 19th Mississippi Infantry

Elbert Welty, Private, Company F, 9th Mississippi Infantry, captured at Elliston, Mississippi November 26, 1863, sent to Alton, Illinois prison camp, sent to Fort Delaware prison camp April 4, 1864, released on taking the oath of allegiance June 7, 1865, resident of Tippah County, Mississippi

Lafayette Welty, 19 year old married Farmer, born in Tennessee, enlisted as a Private, Company B, 2nd Mississippi Infantry March 12, 1862 at Ripley, Mississippi, transferred to Company L November 1, 1862, wounded at Gettysburg July 1, 1863, admitted to Camp Winder Hospital, Richmond, Virginia July 14, 1863 with Intermittent Fever, furloughed for 40 days July 25, furloughed to Mississippi August 22, 1863, absent without leave from September 22, 1863 through August 1864, no further records

Ebenezer Welty, married 21 year old Farmer, born in Mississippi, enlisted as a Private in Company A, 2nd Mississippi Cavalry, State Troops December 15, 1862 at Riply, Mississippi, recorded on August 16,1863 as absent, prisoner, captured at Ellistown, Mississippi November 26, 1862, listed as a 2nd Sergeant, n.d., no further records

John Welty, single 17 year old Farmer, enlisted as a Private in Company A, 2nd Mississippi Cavalry, State Troops November 1, 1863 at Ripley, Mississippi, recorded on January 1864 as absent without leave, still AWOL on the last muster roll dated May 5, 1864
