I am new to researching and have found J R McNease as Sgt CSA Co E 38 Mississippi Infantry and Cavalry and a J McNease, Private 1 (Johnstons) MS Infantry 1st Regiment and a J McNease, Sgt, Co E, 28th Cavalry 28th Regiment. John R McNeese was captured at Vicksburg 4 July 1863.

Can anyone help me interpret this? My GGGrandfather was John Rufus McNease of Jefferson Davis County, 1860 Census Holliday Creek, Mississippi.
