Dear "jfoerste,"

I would recommend Personal Ancestral File (PAF), available at no charge from
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) in Salt Lake City. I do
not know if you are aware of the LDS church, but they are the largest genealogical
research site, having the largest number of genealogical library holdings in the world.

Their business is genealogical research which is fundamental to the LDS Church.
Their PAF package is designed for researchers, i.e., it does not offer all the glitz
and glamour of the other well-known genealogical packages, e.g., laden down with
glitzy graphics, etc. - just those tools, web page designs, etc. that are intended to
support the serious genealogist.

I have been using PAF through all its versions for the last 20 years, have all my
CW and non-CW ancestors residing in its files and have never wanted for any
data organization or transfer scheme that was not in PAF.

You might want to visit their site at www.familysearch.org and see if what you find
fits your needs.
