I'm not totally sure on this...

I have a James M. McGinnis in Powers Regiment of Cavalry from Copiah County and 2nd Regiment, Mississippi Partisan Rangers

This one looks good...

James McGinnis, Private, Musician, Wood's Regiment, Confederate Cavalry (1st Mississippi Cavalry Regiment) (Wirt Adams' Regiment) Co. F. Home Copiah County.

Enlisted July 11, 1862 at Saltillo, Miss. by Col. W. Adams, for the war as a musician.

Pay .40 per day. Paid June 30, 1862, $24.00.

Band disbanded on Sept. 25, 1862
Transferred to Co. F. on Sept. 25, 1862
Detailed as Courier to Lt. Gen. Pemberton on May 16, 1863
Paroled Prisoner Vicksburg, July 4, 1863
Present with Company for Oct. 1863.
Paroled at Jackson, Miss., May 19, 1865.

His signed parole at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863 is included in his records.
