Augustus "Gus" A. Bracey's obituary appears in Confederate Veteran magazine, vol. XXII, p. 422. It tells quite a story. For one thing, it was thought Gus had been killed at Chancellorsville and his mother grieved for him, apparently not learning the truth until the war was over and Gus rode up to his desolate plantation home. His cousin was Sedley Lynch Bracey. Regarding Company A, try an internet search on Josiah Garrett - a site describing his civil war record mentions a farewell ceremony and barbecue given for the men of the Charley Clark's Rifles, Company A, 12th Ms, who were headed off to the war. The event was held at the Union Presbyterian Church in Union Church, Ms, which reportedly still stands.
