indicates that he died at Camp Jackson, FL. Camp Jackson was probably 2-3 miles east of Pensacola near the home of Andrew Jackson. The 8th Mississippi was in the Pensacola area from Oct. 1861 - May 1862. It is likely that he died there during that period, probably from disease. He may very well be buried in an unmarked grave near there.
