Mary, Richard Bridges, who is also my G-G-Grandfather served in at least 3 Confederate units during the War.

In March, 1861, he enlisted in the 10th MS Volunteers, Co K, in Yazoo City. He was 18 at the time. He served in Pensacola with this unit until December 19, 1861. At that time his record show he was discharged, with a remark he had re-enlisted with the 9th MS Regiment. He does not appear with the 9th, and I don't know his whereabouts for the next 7 months.

In August, 1862, he transferred into Wood's Regiment Confederate Cavalry, Co K, at Guntown, MS. He served with this unit until February 28, 1863, when he transferred into the 46th MS Regiment, Co C, at Vicksburg. He was captured at the surrender of Vicksburg, July 4, 1863, and was paroled July 10. He was described as "deserted at Yazoo" in October 1863. I do not know if this means he kept his oath at parole that he would not take up arms against the U.S., or if he enlisted into another unit.
