Henry W. Bridges, age 25, enrolled in Company I, Stone's Texas Cavalry regiment September 12, 1861 at Dallas, Texas, recorded as Commanding Battalion Sharp Shooters on May/June 1862 signing certificate as Major & inspector & mustering officer, promoted to Lieutenant Colonel August 1, 1862 although the July/August 1862 muster roll records him as Captain, regiment recorded as 6th Texas Cavalry May 6, 1862, signed a special provision return for 200 men of Captain H. W. Bridges Battalion of Sharp Shooters for the two day period of June 14/15, 1862, no further records

The 6th (also called the 2nd and Stone's) Regiment Texas Cavalry was organized in September, 1861, for twelve months. It was re-organized under the Conscript Act in May, 1862

These records may be procured through the service noted in the red enclosed box above.
