Edwin B. Rembert - Grave Marker

In 2006, several of you on this board were very helpful in helping me find info about and locate the grave of E. B. Rembert, Co. F, 4th MS Cavalry. He was my gg uncle. He is buried at the Fannin Methodist Church Cemetery. He was discharged May 4th, 1865, probably at the time of Gen. Forrest's surrender in May of 65; I believe his unit was somewhere in west Alabama. He died a few weeks later, May 22nd, 1865, and the body had to be buried before he could get home to Copiah Co. He was born Feb. 2nd, 1849, so he was just a lad. The church is at 2815 Hwy 471, just northeast (16 miles off hwy 25) from the Jackson airport.

I called the church back in 2006 and with help from their Ms. Dial, found the grave and she sent pictures, etc. The grave was marked but without mention of his service. With help of church members who are in the SCV, a marker, comemorating his service will be placed at his grave on Saturday May 2nd at 2:00 pm. The old cemetary is about 1 mile north of the present church. There are activities at the church all day Saturday, a bar-b-que I think, and people there can provide better directions.

I have been asked to be there as a family member and to say a few words. My wife and I will drive over from Atlanta. If you can join us, to honor "Uncle Eddie", I would appreciated it and I will look forward to meeting you.
