I note that South Carolina has dedicated a monument to its fallen at Spotsylvania Courthouse in Virginia, where I live. But as a native of Mississippi I wonder whether we should not also honor the memory of our Mississippi dead at this battlefield. Surely we have gifted artists in Mississippi who could do justice to a suitable monument. I would gladly kick in some Yankee bucks to give this a start. But we would need a leader in Mississippi.
