In Response To: Perryville Battle Oct 1862 ()

Hi, Georgeanne.

Below are two lists of Confederate soldiers from Mississippi that pertain to the Battle of Perryville: (1) a list of 32 soldiers of the 33rd Mississippi (Hardcastle's) Infantry Regiment (aka 3rd Battalion and 45th Regt. Miss. Inf.); and (2) a list of 17 members of Col. Mark P. Lowrey's 32rd Mississippi Infantry Regiment, who were killed, wounded or sick that did die, or may have died, at Perryville, KY or Harrodsburg, KY (one known died at Danville, KY).

In the event you locate ANY of their graves, please let me know where and in what cemetery each is located. I hope you find this to be of some assistance.

Respectfully submitted.

Battle of Perryville, KY - 8 Oct 1862
Killed & Wounded from 33rd/45th Miss. & 32nd Miss.
Complied 8 April 2009 by Robert E. “Rob” Swinson

NOTE regarding the 3rd Battalion Mississippi Infantry:
This unit was consolidated in mid-April 1862 with the remainder of some companies of other Confederate regiments due to loses during the Battle of Shiloh, and designated the 33rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry, Col. Aaron B. Hardcastle commanding. It retained this designation for several months until it was realized there were two 33rd Mississippi Infantry Regiments. Col. Hardcastle’s regiment was re-designated at the end of Nov. 1862 as the 45th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. Therefore, depending upon actual date of death (if known) the soldier may have been a member of the 33rd Regiment (Hardcastles) Mississippi Infantry of the 45th Regiment Mississippi Infantry.
