My great-grandfather, Pvt. Samuel Isom Green, Co. A, 24th Ms. Volunteers, was captured on Nov.24, 1863, at the Battle of Lookout Mt., near the Craven House. He was confined at Rock Island Prison on Dec.5, 1863. After enduring the horrors of Rock Island with honor and dignaty, like so many other Southern soldiers. He was released on May 21, 1865. He never falterd in his loyalty to the South , his state , and his family.
