Service Records for Thomas Lyons

My husband's great grandfather, Thomas Lyons, enlisted September 13, 1861, in the 26th Alabama Infantry, Co. H "Sons of 76". In 1864 when the unit was sent home, he joined "Roddy's Cavalry" (Alabama 4th Cavalry). We have been unable to find any records for him in Alabama. Recently, I learned that he moved shortly after 1900 to Union Co., MS, after the death of his wife. Would he have applied for a pension in MS then? He was born August 26, 1835, in Tennessee, but the family moved to Marion County, AL, around 1844. He died November 20, 1918, in Union Co., MS, and is buried in Ingomar Cemetery. Can anyone help?

TIA,
Linda
