His name was James Sanders. He was a PVT in Co C 37th Mississippi Regiment. According to copies of his civil war records, he died 28 Feb 1863 at Snyders Bluff and was last paid 31 Oct 1862. You are probably right in that he died from injury or disease. He enlisted at Quitman MS 13 Mar 1862 and there is no record that I can find of his burial there. I just assume he is one of the unknowns buried in Vickburg. Thanks.
