Re: Book Review on The Battle of Iuka and Corinth

David,

I too, highly recommend this book. To date, I believe this is Cozzens' best work. His histories of Perryville, Murfreesboro/Stones River, Chickamauga and Chattanooga, though valuable works, are rather dry and have a "cookie cutter" feel to them. The "Darkest Days of the Civil War" seems to have a great deal more feeling, drama and tragedy for the reader. In my opinion, the battles of Corinth and Iuka were important battles that have been relegated to background noise. These battles were bitter and major engagements worthy of study.

Earlier, there was a thread on this board that recommended and then critiqued this book. In one posting the statement was made by a Tom Parson that "the book is chock full of mistakes". I would appreciate a little more detail on this statement.
