Art, Greetings to you and yours. On the roster of Stanford's Mississippi Battery I have a J.M. Davis (who I have no info on) and a Levi J. Davis (who I have a small amount of info on), it is unknown if either are from the Duck Hill area at this time. Some of the men of Stanford's were recruted from the Duck Hill area and several are buried there. They actually gathered at the Duck Hill fair grounds in October of 1861 before moving to Grenada to be sworn in the State of Mississippi service, from there on to Columbus, KY. and service in the CS army. There are many small cemeteries near Duck Hill, of course. Do you know if your kin is buried in the town cemetery? I live near there and will look in the town cemetery and the Confederate Cemetery also, when I return home.
