Re: G. W. Meek - Attalaville, Attala Co., MS

Pvt. George W. Meek and Sgt. Robert T. Meek were members of the Long Creek Rifle Company, (L. S. Terry, Capt), which became Company A, 15th. Miss. Infantry Regiment.

These two men were born in Alabama, residents of Attala County in 1850 & 1860, and according to a family researcher were brothers.

Both were captured at Nashville Dec. 16, 1864 and forwarded to Camp Chase where they spent the rest of the war. They were released from Camp Chase on June 11, 1865, George was 29 years old and Robert was 31.

A capsule history of their regiment can be found at this site.
