Civil War Uniforms - photoghs of

Does anyone know of a site that has the various uniforms utilized during the Civil War and WWI, but particularly for Mississippi regiments during the Civil War? I am trying to confirm the unit of a "Dr." Wm. L. Gates. I have seen his uniform, but my records show that he was not old enough to have served in the Civil War, which means that the uniform thought to be of the Civil War period is actually of the WWI era. However, the cap has a "Miss" and eagle emblem on it, along with a gold braid. It is black in appearance has has gray pants, which leads one to believe he was probably a Civil War uniform on the Confederate side. Wm Gates was a veterinarian and not a medical doctor. I have had no exprience researching uniforms. JG
