Going back throught my notes and the records of the Shubuta Baptist church, the church was used as a hospital during the war when 10's of thousands of troops where being moved up and down on the railoroad going through Shubuta. History says that soldiers carved their name in the pews so someone would remember them. this church was replaced so no telling what happen to the names. this history story came from Ms Georgia Dees who later married Rev Phillips of Shubuta.
