I guess it depends on the date. A Union message on May 4, 1865 orders Maj. Gen. A. J. Smith to adjust his lines to send troops to Cuba Station in coordination with General Taylor. A message from Taylor's AAG to Maury states on May 6, 1865 that Federal forces were going to take over guard duties in Cuba Station a few days. All Confederate forces on guard in the Demopolis area and including Cuba Station were ordered by Taylor to Mcdowell's on May 9, 1865.
