I checked the index for "The Medical and Surgical History of the war of the rebellion (1861-65).... and found only 3 Temple/ Temples as I forgot to write down your ancestor's name as I've seen other posts by you. Anyway, one was a Union soldier (MO but don't really remember) and the other two were Confederate. There was Temples, M. V. Sgt (2nd AR)died June 8th 1864(he was listed under the chapter on head injuries and Temple, T. B. (8th NC) age 29 died July 31, 1864 listed under "unsuccessful cases of Primary Amputation in the Middle Third of the Shaft of the Humerus.
