Usually there is NO genealogical info, unless the soldier died in service, in which case there are SOMETIMES copies of legal papers relating to his widow or parents getting a small settlement from the CS government.

Sometimes when a soldier died in service, there was also a "descriptive list" filled out about him, which included age, place of birth, height, weight, etc.

It's hit or miss, since were talking about records over 140 years old.

Sometimes a treasure trove appears, sometimes virtually nothing.
