Duncan: Although you probably are aware of this already, I thought I might jump in for a second.
The tall soldier in front and in shadows in the photo (website) is Cpl. Augustus (Gus) Bolton Raffington, Co. D. 28th Mississippi Cavalry killed at Mt. Carmell Church (Spring Hill, Tennessee) on November 29, 1864. He is believed to be buried in the Mt. Carmell Church Cemetery, Unmarked, near Spring Hill, Williamson County, Tennessee.
There are other members of his regiment who were also killed there at that time and are believed to be buried near him, also unmarked.
I have had the pleasure and Honor of meeting his descendants (some came all the way from Jamaica) and we toured the Spring Hill and Franklin battlefields. They continue to Honor his sacrifice.
Thanks, Tim Burgess
