Thanks - Did not realize so many Stovalls served from MS!
Trying to ID a C.A. Stovall who filed an Affidavit March 29, 1858, in U.S. Distrcit Court for the Northern District of California under the Federal Fugitive Slave Act (only case known of in California) to reclaim a slave named "Archie (Lee) who sometime in the month of January, 1857 stab a white man in the County of Cavioll(?) and did flee Mississippi...
I tend to think the transcription should be 'Coahoma' County MS - since it is known that a large Stovall Plantation existed there before the war.
