In a little church cemetery some 15 miles east of Columbia, S.C., is buried acommandant of Mississippi Conscripts. The stone of the soldier, located at Good Hope Baptist Church, near Eastover, Richland County, S.C., reads: Dr. M. R. Clark, M. D.//Graduate of Philadelphia College of Medicine 1850//Veteran of Seminole, Mexican and Confederate Wars//Wounded 4 times at Chapultapec//Major and Ass. Adj. General C.S.A.//Commandant of Conscripts, State of Mississippi//Dec. 22, 1818//Sept. 25, 1882//
