This photo is in our family collection and we would like some who are knowledgeable on Mississippi Civil War Uniforms to comment on it. The Coovert & Patorno logo was only used from 1885 to 1890 so possibly this is a copy of an earlier photo. Is it a Civil War uniform, is that cap an officer's cap, what significance is the ribbon pinned on the jacket, is the clean-shaven face appropriate for 1861-65, is that a stripe on the pants, and does the jacket look appropriate for a Mississippi unit. We have relatives that served in 41st Mississippi Infantry, also in First Missouri Cavalry (dismounted), could the uniform have been worn in those units?
