31 of 56 unknown soldiers buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona, MS have been identified through old hospital records and much research by Jim Huffman (thanks again, Jim!) I have sent off for many of their service records in order to provide for them proper grave markers. However, there are four soldiers whose regiments still remain unknown. I know it is a shot-in-the-dark, but some of these names might sound familiar to some of you. Please look at them too see if anybody can help identify these soldiers so they can receive a proper grave marker.
E.M. Ferguson (Furguson?)
J.W. Bevill (Beville?)
Elisha (Elihu?) Kacy

These soldiers died in the Winona hospital- probably during the Shiloh-Corinth and Vicksburg campaigns, as did most of the others buried there. I know it seems unlikely to identify these soldiers' units, but I think it is important to mark their graves. The families of these brave gentlemen deserve to know the location of their final resting places Thank you.
