The one in the 3rd was Nimrod Smith. I have his pension and headstone applications as well as death certificate. On his headstone application, he claimed he joined his unit in 1863, which would have made him 16 years old. However, I can't find his service record and my grandpa's first cousin, Nimrod's direct descendant, swears up and down he didn't fight. So maybe he lied about his service to get the pension? His Yankee brother was Thomas Smith.

By the way, I claim Poplarville but I actually live closer to Hancock County where most of my relatives are from.

I just got the book on the 3rd and look forward to reading it.
