Very good George! I was aware of this link through Google Books and this preview of the history of the 15th Mississippi Infantry. For some reason, I did not find the reference that included his middle name. But, even better, and others might want to update their information, Col. Statham is referenced in most sources as "Winfield S." Statham. The author of this book states his actual name was "Walter Scott Statham" and this is the information that appears on his grave marker in Grenada, MS. I also found a reference from the "Dartmouth Review" where he was memorialized as an alumnus and listed among the Confederate dead.
