Well, I received the records for my Peyton Powel (one "L") today. All two pages of them, ha-ha. I guess that's to be expected for a State outfit as opposed to the actual CSA units, eh?

There is the cover sheet verifying Peyton Powel's presence in Little's Company, 3 Batt'n (Coopers), Mississippi State Cavalry. Private/Private. No medical or personal records contained herein.

The second page is his Muster Roll, which was not dated. Enlisted April 5th, 1864, in Bahala, MS, by Maj. Peyton, for two years of war.

Pretty thin, but verification nonetheless.
