The Whitworth that needs to be tracked, in my opinion, is the one that was manned by a detachment of the Pointe Coupee Louisiana Artillery at Fort Pemberton in early March of 1863 (I think it was a detachment of Co. A, but Co. B was also at Fort Pemberton in full). This gun's magazine was hit during the engagement with the Union boats, wounding the gun crew around March 10-11. What happened with this 18-pounder Whitworth? Did it go to Jackson in early May or did it go to Snyder's Bluff along with most of the Fort Pemberton's command or did it stay at Fort Pemberton during that month? I think I have two guns for sure under the command of Pemberton, but following the O.R. the guns keep poping up between Vicksburg, Snyder's Bluff and Fort Pemberton making it seem that the number maybe higher. If it went to Jackson in early May, there is a possibility of this Whitworth being picked up by Bledsoe's Battery when it arrived there from Port Hudson on the 10th. I believe this has to be resolved to determine where Bledsoe attained a Whitworth.
