Snyder's Bluff was not abandoned until two weeks after the Battle of Raymond.
Basically, there's no reason to carry a Whitworth inland ... their only value is in the fact that their muzzle velocity makes them the only cannon in the Confederate arsenal capable of penetrating ironclad armor.
The fact that they fired 3-inch diameter bolts that carried a tiny bursting charge made them fairly useless for anti-personnel duties, except for the fact that the high velocity of the projectile created a demoralizing screeching sound.
