Pls keep us informed of your progress on the unit history of the 21st Mississippi Infantry. Just yesterday, I was reading about this fabled regiment and the attack on the Peach Orchard at Gettysburg. That brigade assault by Barksdale and his Mississippians at Gettysburg was an amazing display of bravery and fearlessness. When you think about how far Barksdale, Lang, Wilcox and Wright got on the 2nd of July, with one more division, they might have taken Cemetery Ridge. Only my opinion, of course.

My wife has a number of ancestors from the 13th Mississippi Infantry, Co K (Pettus Guards - Lauderdale County), so I hold a special place in my heart for Barksdale's brigade.
