To the best of my knowledge, all of my grandparents were from Mississippi. My father is James T. Hemphill; his parents are Gladys and Harvey Columbus Hemphill. My father's mother's maiden name was Carter. I was told I'm of Irish, Scottish, German, and Cherokee heritage. I lived in McComb, MS, from age of two weeks until approximately six years of age. My Cherokee lineage is from the Hemphill side of my family tree.

I'm a bit confused though, because I thought the Hemphills originated from England.
