I am seeking information re Stephen F Mitchell who served as a private in the 24th MS Infantry, and who died in 1862 at the age of 22. Recently, in an old pre-Civil War cemetery in Webster Co MS a marble plaque was laid on the cemetery ground by an unknown person regarding Private Mitchell. Would appreciate information as to which county he may have enlisted, as well as name of regiment in which he served.
