Yes, that is him. Thomas was his youngest son, but is he the same C. Purvis of the 10th MS? I received his service records from Ms. archives but the info was schetchy at best. C. Purvis was in the Port Gibson Rifles from Claiborne county and my family wound up right across the river in Tensas parish La. around turn of century so I believe odds are good. The only problem is he was still in Rankin Co. on 1860 & 1870 census. I believe your info is from 1880 census isn't it?
