WIRT ADAMS CAVALRY

I need a little MS help!!!

In tracing the Civil War record of my ancestors, I've been stumped for several years regarding William C. (Curtis) Elam. Although it is known that he was in CSA service, I've never been able to find his records in Texas. However, I found reference to a William C. Elam and a Benjamin Elam (brothers) in Wirt Adams MS Cavalry. The Elams had been in TX since 1840, so I originally questioned the validity of them enlisting in MS. (This may/may not be the correct pair of Elams).

As I researched Wirt Adams, I discovered he had a direct peronal link to TX during the Texas Revolution. Therefore, this makes me wonder if, perhaps, he had a following from TX that served with him in MS.

Can anyone expand on this theory or furnish information about TX troops enlisting in MS?

Thanks for any help.

Wes
