Becky,

My Weatherford ancestors were in the 17th Batt Tenn cavalry (which was made a part of the 9th Miss. Cavalry) and the 12th Battalion Miss Cavalry. From the beginning of 1864, the 11th Miss, 9th Miss, 12th Batt Miss, 2nd Alabama, and 56th Alabama were all in Samuel Ferguson's Brigade in Mississippi.

On May 8th, 1864, the brigade was ordered to Georgia, and arrived there later that month. It was a part of Jackson's Division, with two other brigades. Generally, during the actions leading down from Northern Georgia to Atlanta, Jackson's division was on the Confederate left (west).

I did a histroy of the Weatherfords in the war, which really deals more with the units. I will send you a copy at your listed e-mail.
