Re: Battle of Harrisburg (Tupelo)

Thanks Linda for the information. Unfortunately, all that I have from the family, which was written long ago, is the following statement, "He (Jesse Ball) was killed in the battle of Ponotoc Miss, and is buried in the Ponotoc cemetery. He is buried in the same grave with Ivan Dinnison." I found an Evan Dennison who was in Co. I of the 38th MS Cav, and Jesse was in Co. K, 38th MS Cav (Mtd Inf), both documented in the records as being killed at the Battle of Harrisburg. Not being familiar with the area, I was hoping that perhaps there was one major cemetery in Ponotoc, with documented graves of those killed during the battle 13-15 July 1864. I have searched the Web for cemetery records of that area but have not found much. Thanks again for your clarification.
