43rd Mississippi Infantry Co. H

I am looking for more Civil War service information concerning Pvt. Richard Shields. Following is the information that I have so far:

Company H, 43rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry
"Itawamba Tigers," "Pound's Sharpshooters"
Mustered in Mooresville, Itawamba Co., MS, 20 April 1862
Private Soldiers
Richard Shields
Civil War Service Records
Name: Richard Shields
Company: H
Unit: 43 Mississippi Infantry.
Rank - Induction: Private
Rank - Discharge: Private
Allegiance: Confederate

I have been told that he lost a leg during the war but I have no substantial proof of this yet. Also, just today, I found his grave and was surprised to see that he did not have a CSA headstone! He was born in 1833 and died Dec. 16, 1894 in Itawamba Co., Ms. Buried in the Walton Cemetery there.

If anyone on this board has access to any further information about Richard (F. 'Foy') Shields then I would very greatly appreciate hearing from you!!

Thank you very much!
Karla
