In researching David C. Kelley, the fighting Methodist parson, actually I discovered Kelley brought a 14 years old Chinese youth with him as his servant during 1861 to 1865. The Chinese youth later became another Confederate veteran, a Cavalryman. The name of the Chinese youth is C.K. 'Charlie' Marshall Tsao (Cao) who survived the War and who returned to China in 1869. Later he became a Methodist minister.
I hope to trace Kelley's movement and that would be likely Marshall's CW experience.
I have 5 Forrest's books. Knew Kelley's activities from 1861 to 1862 and from 1864 to 1865 with Forrest.
But I don't know Kelley's movement from 1862 to 1864. It is likely Kelley followed Joe Wheeler. But I couldn't find my misplaced Wheeler's book. I need help in this area..
Sincerely,
Gordon K.
